kundalini yoga
(yoga of awareness)
Kundalini Yoga is much more than a system of physical exercise. It is the Yoga of Awareness, aimed at raising your consciousness. It accomplishes this through the connection of the body-mind-spirit-soul in conjunction with the subtle energies of the body such as prana (life energy) and the charkas. It works on all aspects of our being by using mental focus, breathing techniques, mantras(sound vibrations), postures(body positions), mudras( hand positions), and relaxation to scientifically provide a more healthy, happy and holy way of life for each person who practices it.
The technology of Kundalini Yoga is aimed at the spirit that has no boundary. Therefore, it is universal and nondenominational. No matter what religious path a person follows, Kundalini Yoga helps practitioners experience what they believe.

aquarian sadhana Sadhana means “Daily Practice.” The Aquarian Sadhana is the practice that Yogi Bhajan has given to do until the full shift into the Aquarian age in 2013. The practice is comprised of Japji which is a beautiful prayer known as the Song of the Soul. It is a universal prayer of God consciousness that awakens you to your destiny (20 minutes), a yoga kriya and 62 minutes of chanting seven different mantras. We begin the 2-1/2 hour practice at between 4:00 and 5:00 am on Sunday mornings. Practicing in the ambrosial hours 2 ½ hours before the sunrises is giving back 10% of our day to the infinite. The class is lead not taught. It is preferable to have experience with Kundalini Yoga prior to attending.

sadhana consultation If you are ready to develop your own Sadhana - personalized daily practice Rai Kaur is available to consult with you on your choices as well as teach you the kriya/meditation with all of the detailed nuances. It is the cornerstone to having yoga guide you through self-transformation, bring yourself back into balance and shift your perceptions. You can start simply with “tuning in,” long deep breathing and stretching, or go right into the 2-1/2 hour Aquarian Sadhana, practicing what we do in community once per week. The objective is to commit to a practice that you can realistically achieve. Through your practice of Sadhana you will most likely confront resistance or self-sabotage to creating more positive experiences in your life. There is a victory in keeping to the commitment you have made to yourself. By creating a sacred space for yourself on a daily basis, you allow self healing and relaxation to occur, which will lead you to your birthright to be happy, healthy and holy. special events

Many events, workshops and intensives are planned for the upcoming year. Please check Special Events calendar on website for details.

how to prepare
- Please refrain from wearing fragrances in the studio.
- It's best not to have eaten a heavy meal two to three hours before practicing yoga.
- Wear clothes you can comfortably move in (natural fibers are best).
- Never practice yoga under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you are taking medication under the supervision of a physician, consult him/her before proceeding.
- Don't aggravate an existing injury. Ask an instructor how to modify the exercises so that you can work around it and ultimately help the healing process. If you have any doubt as to whether yoga would be recommended with a particular injury or condition, please consult your physician before beginning your yoga practice.
- When a woman is menstruating, she should substitute Long Deep Breathing for Breath of Fire, abstain from inverted and reverse poses (e.g. shoulder stand, plow) and choose sets of moderate difficulty.
- It's best to do yoga barefoot. This allows for full stimulation of the nerve endings in the feet.
- It is best to keep your spine and shoulders covered (with a shawl, blanket, or sweater, etc.) while meditating or relaxing for long periods of time.
- When possible do yoga in clean, uplifting and accommodating environments.
- Yoga is best practiced on a sheep skin, wool rug or mat of natural materials for comfort and to provide a natural insulation for your body's sensitive nervous system.

pregnant women
- During the first trimester, most Kundalini Yoga can be practiced, though it is recommended to use care in all of the exercises, respecting the great changes taking place in your body and mind.
- Pregnant women should consult their physicians before proceeding. Strong limitations need to be exercised after the fourth month. Ask your instructor for guidelines.
- Beginning the 2nd trimester, the following guidelines should be followed:
* Do not practice Breath of Fire or root lock (You may substitute Long Deep Breathing).
* Do not practice exercises which place the feet above the head. (i.e., shoulder stand, plough pose)
* Avoid exercises that place stress on the abdomen.
* Do not take a cold shower during this time.
